Mellow Fellow products are third-party lab tested, and every device we stock carries a Certificate of Analysis you can read before you buy. But "is it safe" is really three different questions — is the product tested, is the brand legitimate, and is it safe for you — and they have three different answers.
We have read the lab reports for the devices we carry. Here is what they test for, what they showed, and the parts most retailers skip.

Is Mellow Fellow Safe? The Short Answer
Mellow Fellow sends its products to independent laboratories and publishes the results. Every device carries a QR code linking to the report for that specific batch. That puts it well ahead of the unbranded disposables sold without any testing at all.
What third-party testing does not mean is that the product is harmless. These are intoxicating products. They will impair you, they can show up on a drug test, and they are not appropriate for everyone. A clean lab report tells you what is in the device — it does not tell you whether you should use it.
What the Lab Reports Actually Test For
This is the part that usually gets skipped. A Certificate of Analysis is not one test, it is several, and knowing which ones a brand runs tells you more than the word "lab tested" on a box.
| Test | What it is checking |
| Cannabinoid potency | How much of each cannabinoid is actually in the device, versus what the label claims |
| Delta-9 THC content | Whether the product stays under the 0.3% federal limit by dry weight |
| Pesticides | Residue carried over from how the hemp was grown |
| Heavy metals | Lead, arsenic, cadmium and mercury — which can come from soil or from hardware |
| Residual solvents | What was left behind by the extraction process |
| Microbials | Mould, yeast and bacterial contamination |
The heavy metals panel is the one worth caring about most, and the one counterfeit products fail. Metals can leach from cheap coils and cartridge hardware, not just from the plant, which is why the test matters even when the extract itself is clean.
When we brought in the ten 5G Destination devices, we read all ten reports before listing them. Delta-8 came in between roughly 66% and 75% of cannabinoid content, and all ten read below the limit of quantitation for Delta-9 THC. The full breakdown of what separates them is in our Destination Series guide.
Is Mellow Fellow a Legit Brand?
Yes. Mellow Fellow is an established hemp brand based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with a public product range, published lab reports and a retail distribution network.
The more useful question is whether the specific device in your hand is genuine. Popular hemp brands get counterfeited, and a fake device is the actual safety risk — it has no report behind it, and no one has tested its hardware for metals.
Three things to check:
- Scan the QR code. It should resolve to a report matching the batch on your device, not to a generic page.
- Buy from a retailer that lists the COA. If a seller cannot show you the report, they cannot show you the product is what it claims.
- Be suspicious of unusually cheap listings. A 5G device well below the normal range is a signal, not a bargain.

Will Mellow Fellow Show Up on a Drug Test?
Yes. Assume it will.
This is the question retailers dodge, so here is the direct answer. Standard workplace drug screens look for THC metabolites. They do not distinguish between Delta-8, Delta-9, THC-P or any other THC variant — the body breaks them down into metabolites the test recognises the same way.
Being hemp-derived and federally compliant has no bearing on this. If you are subject to drug testing for your job, for probation, for the military, or for anything else, Mellow Fellow products are not a safe choice regardless of how clean the lab report is.
How long it stays detectable depends on how much you use and how often — occasional use clears faster than daily use, and there is no reliable way to predict it for an individual.
Is Mellow Fellow Legal?
At the federal level, hemp-derived products containing less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC by dry weight are legal under the 2018 Farm Bill, and Mellow Fellow products are formulated to that standard.
State law is a different matter. A number of states restrict or prohibit Delta-8 and related cannabinoids regardless of the federal position, and the list changes. We do not ship to states where these products are restricted, and it is worth checking your own state before ordering anywhere.

Who Should Not Use Mellow Fellow
Straightforwardly, and without hedging:
- Anyone under 21
- Anyone who is pregnant or nursing
- Anyone subject to drug testing
- Anyone about to drive or operate machinery
- Anyone taking prescription medication, without speaking to their doctor first
If you are new to these products, the risk is not the device — it is the dose. Take one short draw, wait ten to fifteen minutes, and judge from there. Most bad experiences come from stacking draws before the first one has taken effect.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Will Mellow Fellow get you high?
Yes. Mellow Fellow products are intoxicating. They are built on Delta-8 THC, with THC-P, THC-B, Delta-10, CBN, CBG and CBD in varying amounts depending on the blend. Hemp-derived and federally compliant does not mean non-intoxicating.
Are Mellow Fellow carts safe?
The carts carry the same third-party testing as the disposables, covering potency, heavy metals, pesticides, solvents and microbials. The risk with any cartridge is counterfeiting rather than the genuine product — check the QR code resolves to a real batch report, and buy from a retailer that publishes the COA.
Does Mellow Fellow show on a drug test?
Yes, assume so. Standard tests detect THC metabolites and do not distinguish Delta-8 from Delta-9. If you are tested for any reason, avoid these products.
Is Mellow Fellow a good brand?
By the measures that can be checked — published third-party lab reports, consistent batch testing, a stable product range and public reviews — it holds up well against the rest of the category. Whether a specific blend suits you is a separate question, and our guide to all ten blends covers what each one contains.
What is in a Mellow Fellow vape?
Hemp-derived cannabinoid extract — live resin or terp sauce depending on the product — with cannabinoid content varying by blend. The specific breakdown for any device is on its Certificate of Analysis, linked from its product page.
Can you overdose on Mellow Fellow?
Taking too much at once can produce a genuinely unpleasant few hours — racing heart, anxiety, nausea, dizziness. It is not a situation anyone wants to be in. The way to avoid it is to start with a single short draw and wait before taking another.
How do I check the COA for my device?
Scan the QR code on the packaging, or find the COA linked on the product page for that item. The report should match the batch on your device. If the code does not resolve to a batch-specific report, treat the product as unverified.
Where can I buy Mellow Fellow safely?
Buy from a retailer that publishes the lab report for each product. DeltaCloudz lists the COA on every Mellow Fellow product page — browse the full Mellow Fellow range or the Destination Series.
